How To Register Domain Names
How to register domain names is a process that many small
businesses are not aware of the steps required to complete.
Your domain name is a very significant factor in your
online success and is used to identify your website. Also
registering a domain is a vital part to actually owning the
domain name.
Find an official web site that registers domain names
preferably one that allows cheap registration for under ten
dollars. If you do a search on Google you will find many
cheap registrars like Godaddy.
A significant factor in determining your domain name is
that you need to use a domain name that reflects your
business. So for example if you have a beauty salon called
Perfect20 then your domain name would be
http://www.perfect20.com. Sometimes you may find that your
domain name is already taken and to prevent another
business taking advantage of your brand you may want to
contact the owner directly and make an offer to buy your
domain name from them.
Another important consideration to make is that you may
also want to register the .net and .org versions to
prevent a competitor from benefiting from your brand.
If you run a professional business you may want to consider
registering a .biz domain name as only businesses are
allowed to use this type. For information only sites
you will may consider to use the .info extension.
After paying for your domain you would have finalized the
process of registering your domain name. After your domain
name servers have been changed to point to your web host
your domain will propagate through all the domain name
servers on the internet. This process usually takes 24 to
72 hours and it will become live once this step has been
completed.
